Karam, Missick & Traube

Nigel Jackson MA (Oxon) is a Corporate, Intellectual Property and Litigation Solicitor at Karam, Missick & Traube.

Nigel is an ideal solicitor for a corporate matter, or a difficult litigation matter having had many years of experience. Additionally, he is very experienced in corporate finance matters such as takeovers and mergers, acquisitions of companies and businesses as well as insolvency matters, trusts, wills, and probate.

After graduating from Oxford University, he joined City firm Coward Chance where he specialised in corporate, banking and property law before qualifying as a solicitor in 1981. From 1981-1985, owing to family reasons, he took a break from law and became the MD of a textile company which traded successfully.

In 1985 he joined Clifford-Turner where he specialised in Corporate Finance, Takeovers and Mergers. There he was involved in Burton Group’s takeover of Debenhams and played the leading role in Debenhams sale of the Hamleys toyshop in 1986. In 1987, Coward Chance and Clifford-Turner merged to become Clifford Chance, where he continued to act on high profile corporate finance matters. In 1990 he became a partner at Nicholson, Graham & Jones (now K&L Gates) where he carried out major corporate work before heading up the insolvency department.

In 1993 Nigel set up his own law firm Jacksons Solicitors where, for many years, he acted for high profile public companies, private companies, charities, and other organisations, both on contentious and non-contentious cases. He also assisted many technology companies to financial success. Additionally, he acted on intellectual property disputes winning trademark cases for a client against Hugo Boss as well as winning a £1.75m payment in another trademark dispute. Nigel also acted successfully for claimants over the years in respect of serious fraud cases as well as on Insolvency matters.

In 2008 he was called in and assisted on the rescue of a joint venture company caught up in the Dawnay Day collapse. In 2012 he acted on the acquisition of a well-known football club from the estate of the deceased shareholder. He has also acted for sports personalities and football agents.

Nigel has contributed to law books on financial lending and intellectual property rights.
