- About Gayatri Rawtal
Gayatri Rawtal is a Partner at KMT where she plays a central role in the firm’s Dispute Resolution, Private Client and Compliance functions.
She advises on complex contentious and non-contentious private client matters, with particular expertise in high-conflict estates, contentious probate, cross-border succession issues, executor disputes and matters involving significant reputational, fiduciary or regulatory risk. Her practice frequently intersects with commercial litigation, strategic risk management and regulatory compliance.
As the youngest fee earner to have acceded to partnership since the firm’s inception, Gayatri is closely involved in the management and strategic direction of the firm. Alongside her client-facing practice, she is actively engaged in the firm’s compliance and regulatory framework.
Gayatri acts for executors, trustees, private individuals, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth families in matters that are often legally, commercially and emotionally sensitive. Clients value her measured, pragmatic and approachable manner, particularly in disputes requiring careful handling of family dynamics, reputational concerns and complex strategic considerations.
Experience
Private Client & Contentious Probate
Gayatri has extensive experience advising on complex estate administrations and contentious probate disputes, including matters involving allegations of executor misconduct, disputed beneficial interests, removal applications and cross-border succession issues.
She regularly advises on estates involving international assets, vulnerable parties, inheritance tax considerations and sensitive family disputes, often working alongside foreign advisers, tax specialists, genealogists and specialist Chancery counsel to navigate legally and procedurally complex administrations.
Her work includes acting on substantial cross-border estates involving England, France, the United States and Japan, as well as high-value domestic estates requiring strategic management of litigation, tax and fiduciary exposure.
Gayatri also advises on wills, estate planning and broader succession matters, including testamentary structures designed to protect family wealth and minimise the risk of future disputes.
Dispute Resolution, Litigation and Costs Recovery
As part of her broader disputes practice, Gayatri has advised clients in High Court and County Court proceedings spanning professional negligence, commercial disputes, employment-related matters, civil fraud claims and litigation costs disputes.
She was closely involved in advising on a substantial multi-jurisdictional civil fraud dispute valued at approximately US$30 million involving allegations relating to partnership breaches, bailment obligations and fraudulent dealings concerning artwork, antiques and other high-value assets.
Gayatri also regularly advises on litigation strategy, costs exposure and costs recovery, including matters involving detailed assessment proceedings, negotiated costs resolution and commercially sensitive disputes involving substantial legal expenditure.
Her wider disputes experience enables her to bring a commercially strategic and litigation-aware perspective to contentious private client matters.
Compliance, Regulatory & Risk Advisory
In addition to her legal practice, Gayatri plays an active role in the firm’s compliance and risk management functions.
Prior to joining the firm, Gayatri gained international legal and commercial experience across the UK, India and the Middle East, including advising within the security risk mitigation, cybersecurity and venture capital sectors.
